Job Responsibilities:

The summer school nurse will have the responsibility of providing health assessment related to acute and chronic illness, first aid, mental health, medication management.  Provide emergency assessment, triage, and treatment as first responder for students and staff while coordinating care through EMS and school administration. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and current Virginia Nursing License are required; Bachelor of Science (BSN) preferred, experience in school or public health nursing preferred but not required.  Holds and maintains certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support, CPR, and AED. 

Dates of Employment:

The summer school nurse will work from 8:00-12:00 for a total of 16 days of summer school.  Summer school dates are Monday through Friday, June 2-18, 2025. One nurse to serve Appomattox Primary and Appomattox Elementary Schools and one nurse to serve Appomattox Middle and Appomattox County High Schools.
