***This position is an 11-month contracted position. ***

 

Summary

The Instructional Coach coordinates the school’s efforts to improve the skills of all students through direct instruction of students and consultation with the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and CTE.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

  • Assist school and central office administration in determining instructional needs.
  • Provide staff with resources for the selection of a wide range of instructional and supplemental materials.
  • Evaluate school-based professional development needs and plan activities including classroom demonstrations.
  • Develop and provide professional development for division staff as needed.
  • Consult with teachers regarding progress of students.
  • Meet with requesting teachers to discuss instructional needs in the classroom, analyze data and develop interventions that meet the needs of struggling students.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain daily agenda.
  • Maintain instructional assessment kits and other materials for staff/team use.
  • Coordinate review of materials and adoption of new textbooks as needed.
  • Be familiar with all Standards of Learning and Curriculum frameworks for all subject areas.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the superintendent, or designee.

 

Qualifications

Demonstrates an understanding of the job tasks.

Demonstrates and models effective teaching and assessment strategies and techniques.

Demonstrates the ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and well written communication and to react effectively with parents, students, teachers, administrators and the community.

 

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree in Education preferred.

Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience.

Postgraduate Professional License.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or public.

 

Reasoning/Other Abilities

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with and without variables.

 

Physical Demands

Work involves limited physical tasks and may involve infrequent operation of office equipment.  Above-average amount of walking, bending, standing, stooping, and lifting in a classroom environment.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of licensed personnel.
