This position includes a $500 Signing/Retention Incentive to be paid in the following manner: 

     $250 - Following training completion and assignment to a permanent route  

     $250 - Following successful completion of the 2025-2026 contract term

ACPS is in need of bus drivers.  Driver's must follow the following steps: 

Process to become a driver 

Step 1 

Individuals without a CDL must do the following: 

1. Successfully acquire a Commercial Driver’s License Learner’s Permit 
1. Including endorsements in: 
1. General CDL - Class B 
2. Air Brakes 
3. Passenger Commercial Vehicle 
4. School Bus 
2. Provide a copy of a clean driving record 

Step 2

Have a medical physical conducted by a physician 

Step 3 - Pay will begin at this step.

Training 

1. Classroom Instruction - 24 hours 
2. Driving an unoccupied bus with the driver trainer - 6 hours 

Step 4 

Field Test once training is completed with a certified tester or DMV 

Step 5

Driving with students, once a license is issued for 10 hours with the driver trainer
